Western Red
Cedar is another North American top wood that excels for the fingerstylist. It
is a beautiful wood and strikes a very different pose because of its
brownish red color. Like Engelmann, it is very responsive and a great
choice for folks who play gently with their fingertips or nails. It will
overdrive when played hard with a flat pick but provides the warmest of
tone when played with the nails. Some guitarists believe this to be the
top wood of choice for clarity and balance. A small drawback of this
wood is that it will dent and scratch easily because of its softness so
extra care is essential. |
